Popular Get Current Water Bill Assistance Program Extended Through November 30
Laurel, Md. – October 1, 2025 – WSSC Water today announced a series of measures to support federal employees impacted by the government shutdown. Recognizing the financial hardship caused by missed paychecks, Maryland’s largest water utility is taking immediate steps to help ensure impacted customers continue to have access to safe, clean and reliable water and wastewater services.
Effective immediately, WSSC Water will:

Powell. “Our goal is to help safeguard the health and well-being of our customers who, through no fault of their own, suddenly find themselves without a paycheck.”
In addition to these temporary relief measures, WSSC Water offers a variety of financial assistance programs to help residents. We also offer PromisePay, a financial assistance program that allows residential and commercial customers with past-due bills to establish affordable, flexible and interest-free payment plans. This program is designed to make it easier for customers to manage their payments without added financial stress.
WSSC Water is committed to going the extra mile to support these dedicated public servants and others in our community who are facing economic challenges. In fact, our current budget includes nearly $9 million in assistance to help protect income-constrained customers – a 14 percent increase over last year.
