Fats, Oils, and Grease

The Fats, Oils, and Grease program works to regulate food service establishments to prevent sewer overflows and backups. All food service establishments that have the potential to discharge fats, oils and grease must apply for an FSE Wastewater Discharge Permit and may be subject to annual inspections. Visit this section to find more information and permits.

Industrial Discharge Control Program

Our Industrial Discharge Control Program regulates industrial users who discharge non-domestic waste to prevent the introduction of pollutants that are detrimental to the sewer system or interfere with the operation of and/or pass-through the water resource recovery facility.

We work to improve opportunities to recycle and reclaim municipal and industrial wastewater and sludge and protect the health and safety of the general public and WSSC Water workers. Additionally, the IDC Program implements the Waste Hauler Permitting program, which includes overseeing the WSSC Water waste disposal sites.
