Our Governance
Our commissioners oversee WSSC Water's obligation to provide safe, clean drinking water to the community while returning clean water to the environment.
Our commissioners oversee WSSC Water's obligation to provide safe, clean drinking water to the community while returning clean water to the environment.
Commissioners are appointed to four-year terms by the County Executive of their respective county, Montgomery or Prince George's, and are subject to confirmation by their County Council. Each county appoints three Commissioners. For detailed information about the duties of a WSSC Commissioner, see the Public Utilities Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
The six Commissioners also serve as the Audit Committee, monitoring WSSC Water's audit processes; financial reporting processes; internal controls, and compliance with laws, regulations, and our Code of Ethics. The Audit Committee meets quarterly. The Office of the Inspector General serves as a liaison to the Committee.
