Six Commissioners, three from each county, govern WSSC Water. Five Commissioners (three from Prince George’s County and two from Montgomery County) are appointed by their respective county executives and confirmed by their county councils. One is the Director of the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, or the Director’s Designee. For detailed information about the duties of a WSSC Water Commissioner, see the Public Utilities Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

The Committee is responsible for monitoring WSSC Water's audit processes; financial reporting processes; internal controls, and compliance with laws and regulations.
