WSSC Water is hosting two virtual hearings next week to provide customers and interested stakeholders an opportunity to learn about the agency’s proposed six-year (Fiscal Years 2022-2027) Capital Improvements Program (CIP). The public is invited to watch the livestream directly from the WSSC Water website and call in to provide comments.

The proposed $3.9 billion program will allow WSSC Water to continue protecting public health by upgrading aging pipes, plants and pumps across both counties to ensure safe, clean drinking water continues to flow to homes and businesses. Investments in water infrastructure also help create jobs and foster economic growth throughout Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.

Highlights in the proposed CIP include:

  • Water Main System Reconstruction Programs - $1.2 billion
  • Sewer Main System Reconstruction Programs - $718 million
  • Piscataway Bioenergy Project - $223 million
  • Potomac Water Filtration Plant Upgrades - $212 million
  • Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility Upgrades - $52 million
  • Water Storage Facility Rehabilitation - $32 million
