Building and developing exceptional employees

Our Human Resources Department finds, recruits and hires top talent for WSSC Water, as well as manages the many benefits and programs that make employees want to stay. The department develops and maintains employee benefits, classification and compensation programs; conducts training courses, and manages all recruiting functions. Human Resources also provides counseling services on a variety of employee issues.

Human Resources includes these divisions and sections:

Benefits Section

This section develops, administers and manages comprehensive benefit and well-being programs for WSSC Water employees, retirees and their dependents: medical, dental, prescription, vision, Flexible Spending Account programs, the Employee Assistance Program and more. We also provide the MyLife Wellbeing Program, which incorporates a range of services and resources to encourage employees to be their own best healthy-living advocates.

Compensation & HRMS Division

This division manages WSSC Water's compensation program and employee information, which includes both human resource management systems and records management. The division also determines salary structures, ensures compliance with wage and hour laws, establishes internal and external pay equity and administers our performance management system.

Employee & Labor Relations Section

This section provides counsel and advice to management and employees to help resolve employee issues and labor relations concerns. It also helps to develop, implement and interpret policies and procedures, assists in collective bargaining negotiation and administration, and ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.

Equity, Engagement and Inclusion (EEI)/Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Team

Equity, Engagement and Inclusion (EEI)/Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Team is responsible for the overall development and execution of the WSSC Water employee engagement strategy, programs and activities, all EEO activities, policies, procedures including the investigation of complaints of discrimination and ADA compliance activities. The Division is a key strategic leader responsible for maintaining a work environment that is inclusive and free of discrimination.  The Division works to enhance organizational understanding of equity and inclusion to enhance WSSC Water’s responsiveness to creating an engaged and inclusive workforce.

Occupational Safety and Health Division

This division develops, administers and oversees all of WSSC Water's safety and health programs. Our goal is to ensure the safety and health of all of our employees, through education, awareness, training, inspections and enforcement. Key programs include the driver safety program, the confined space entry program, the trench/excavation program and the hazardous materials program.

Talent Acquisition Division

This division identifies and recruits the best talent we can find, because we realize that WSSC Water's success is driven by our talent. We also manage cooperative and student internship programs and temporary third-party staffing administration.

Talent Development Division

This division champions the enhancement of WSSC Water's culture and values through training and development strategies and programs focused on motivating, engaging, and educating a committed and high-performing workforce, and by building our employees' knowledge, skills and abilities.
