Project Purpose

To enhance service reliability and to provide a continuous supply of safe, clean drinking water, WSSC Water is replacing approximately 1.85 miles of water main ranging from 4 to 12 inches in diameter.

Winter 2025 – Summer 2026

Project Status

Construction is 60% complete. Pipe work is estimated to be completed in April 2026. 

Installation of the water main on Powhatan Street from Lamont Drive to Westbrook Drive is currently underway. 

Please expect weekday lane closures from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Work may occasionally extend beyond these hours to complete specific tasks. 

Final roadway paving and striping is estimated to be completed in early summer 2026, weather permitting.

Winter Holiday Schedule

Construction will pause from December 24, 2025, to January 1, 2026, except for emergency work if needed. Crews will return after the break to continue planned activities.
