The Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Storage and Headworks* Improvements is part of the Broad Creek WWPS Augmentation Project.  The Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Storage and Headworks* Improvements is one of four construction contracts associated with the Broad Creek WWPS Augmentation Project.  The Piscataway Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Storage and Headworks* Improvements construction contract include the following:

  1. Removal of 6,000 dry tons of sludge from existing ponds.
  2. Restoration of roadways and vegetated areas.
  3. Construction of an overflow gravity sewer, return gravity sewer, RCP final effluent overflow gravity sewer, and a pressure sewer throughout the Piscataway site.
  4. Construction of new Screening and Grit Facilities.
  5. Construction of a 5 million gallon emergency storage tank.
  6. Construction of a 15 million gallon lined storage pond.
  7. Construction of a carbon media filter system and perimeter odor neutralizing system.
  8. Implementation of storm water management and erosion and sediment control measures.

*Headworks defines the start of the treatment process. The incoming flow of wastewater begins here and goes through the various treatment processes.
