WSSC Water Temporarily Reduces Fluoride Levels in Drinking Water Due to Nationwide Supply Chain Disruptions

Project Purpose

To enhance service and reliability and provide a constant supply of safe, clean drinking water by installing three new 24-inch water mains.

What to Expect

WSSC Water will be installing three 24-inchd water mains, which will involve constructing a trench in a section above the pavement. We may also install above-ground pipes along the roadway to maintain the same quality of water service during this project. 

There may be temporary changes to traffic patterns or parking restrictions, but residents can still access their homes. We will provide 48-hour advance notice of any parking restrictions. Anticipated work hours for all projects are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work may occasionally extend beyond these house to complete specific tasks. 

Project Status

Clopper Road Phase 1A

  • The new water main has been installed 
  • Final restoration and permanent paving will begin during the week of May 18, 2025 (weather permitting) and last between 2 to 3 weeks
  • This construction will take place at night. 

Impacted Streets

  • Clopper Road from Cinnamon Drive to Great Seneca Highway

Clopper Road Phase 1B

  • Construction is 90 percent complete for the 1.1 miles of 24-inch water main along Clopper Road between Liberty Mill Road and Great Seneca Highway and Cinnamon Drive and Waring Station Road
  • Pipe work completion is estimated for July 2025
  • Testing of installed pipe from Allspice Drive to Waring Station Road is currently underway
  • Final roadway paving will begin in phases once testing is successfully completed
  • Expect weekday lane closures from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. 
  • Work may occasionally extend beyond these hours to complete specific tasks
  • Final roadway paving/striping is estimated to be completed in late fall/early winter

Impacted Streets

  • Clopper Road from Cinnamon Drive to east of Waring Station Road

Clopper Road Phase 2

  • WSSC Water will be replacing 2 miles of 24-inch water main along Clopper Road near Waring Station Road to Firstfield Road
  • Design phase is almost complete
  • We will notify impacted customers when construction is expected to begin in the coming months

  • Clopper Road from east of Waring Station Road to Firstfield Road
