Project Purpose

To enhance service reliability of the water system, WSSC Water is replacing our aging infrastructure. This project includes installing 1.3 miles of new 36-inch and 42-inch transmission main and replacement of 0.6 miles of 10-inch and 16-inch water main.

Project Schedule

Fall 2024 – Fall 2026

Project Status

Construction is 55% complete.

Work is currently ongoing on Surratts Road to install the 42-inch water main.

Brandywine Road is to be re-opened during the week of December 15, 2025, and closed again late February 2026 to compete installation of the 16-inch water main.

Winter Holiday Schedule

Construction will pause from December 24, 2025, to January 1, 2026, except for emergency work if needed. Crews will return after the break to continue planned activities.
