A sewer pipe blockage, a break in a pipe, or a number of issues can cause a sanitary sewer overflow. An SSO is the discharge of untreated wastewater from a sanitary sewer system. WSSC Water always informs the public if an SSO occurs, and what was done to correct the problem.
Overflow reports are posted to WSSC Water's website within 10 days of the overflow event. If the overflow report is not listed below, please call 301-206-4002 for information.
