Jonathan Powell
Powell has more than 20 years of experience implementing complex and sophisticated programs and systems for large corporations and the United States military. Powell is currently a project manager with the U.S. Navy.
Before joining the Navy, Powell was a project manager at General Dynamics from 2017 to 2021. In this role, he was responsible for tasks for multiple sponsors, including Undersea Technology, New Construction Submarines and In-Service Submarine Support. His previous work experience includes project and program management positions at CACI International, Inc. and IBM.
Upon graduating from the Naval Academy, he served as a Submarine Officer in the Navy from 1994 to 2001, receiving several commendations for his service.
Powell has also contributed to academia as an Adjunct Professor at UMBC, teaching Project Management and Leadership to graduate students. He has published articles, including one in PM Network Magazine, and served on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery County Revenue Authority for 18 years, culminating in his role as Treasurer.
Powell holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a Master's Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University. He resides in Gaithersburg.
