Alan Sauvageau

Asset Management Program Division Manager

Alan brings more than 27 years of broad utility experience in the private sector and at WSSC Water.  He began his WSSC Water career in Production as a Water Plant Operator at the Potomac WFP.

He spent a few years with Customer Care where he issued WSSC plumbing, gas-fitting, and onsite permits and provided supervisory oversight of the Permit Processors, Records Unit, and Walk-In Customer Service Representatives.

The next 14 years, he worked with Engineering and Construction managing, planning and designing construction of large capital rehabilitation and improvement projects across all of WSSC Water’s facilities.  Some key projects he managed include Site II Decommissioning, $75MM Western Branch ENR and Facility Upgrade and the $6MM Potomac WFP Chemical Feed Upgrade Design-Build Project.

His next stop was as a Project Manager in the Asset Management Office where he managed the development of business cases to evaluate potential capital projects including the replacement of the failing Potomac Water Filtration Plant (WFP) Filter Underdrains, the Depot Aggregate Bins, and the Laboratory Gas Storage project.

Alan returned to Production four years ago as the Wastewater System Asset Strategy Manager under the Production Support Division where he developed annual Asset Management Plans for all of WSSC Water’s water resource recovery facilities, and helped to develop Production’s new Operations Support Program (OSP) which provides funding and project management to support key operational needs across all of WSSC Water’s water and water resource recovery  facilities.

Nearly two years ago, Alan was promoted to the Facilities Maintenance Division (FMD) Manager position where he managed one of the largest and most diverse divisions within WSSC Water.   As FMD’s manager, Alan led 10 sections that administer and manage over 60 contracts, operates and maintains assets at over 200 locations, responds to urgent work requests after hours, and actively manages a $20MM operating budget and over $40MM in capital projects and programs.

Alan is a graduate from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health Science.  Alan was promoted to Division Manager for the Asset Management Division on May 1, 2022 and he is to be congratulated on this important leadership position at WSSC Water.
