Aklile Tesfaye

Aklile provides leadership and guidance to the Production and Utility Services teams critical to providing water and sewer services to our 1.9 million customers. 

A highly effective public servant, leader and engineering professional, Aklile joined WSSC Water in May 2023 following a nearly 30-year career with DC Water, most recently serving as Vice President, Wastewater Operations. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Board Certified Environmental Engineer and Certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, He also earned a Certificate in Public Management from the Executive Leadership Institute. 

Aklile holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Tampere, Finland, and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. 

Outside of work, Aklile enjoys attending/watching sports and traveling with family.
