On October 21, 2026, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water) approved Resolution 2026-2468 adopting regulations, Chapter 15.140 Critical Customers (Critical Care, High Priority and Priority Customers). This regulation creates a standardized process for identifying and approving “critical customers”—facilities and businesses that rely on uninterrupted or priority water service to protect life, public health, or essential operations—so WSSC Water can communicate quickly and provide targeted support during emergencies or service disruptions.
The effective date of the new regulation is December 1, 2026.
