Laurel, Md. – July 3, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. – WSSC Water will reopen the water station located at the Accokeek Academy, 14400 Berry Road, today from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. to provide bottled water to customers affected by the Boil Water Advisory (BWA) impacting the Accokeek and Clinton areas of southern Prince George’s County. WSSC Water is providing three gallons of water per vehicle.

The BWA was issued yesterday at approximately 8 p.m. following a break of a 16-inch diameter water main near 14251 Livingston Road in Clinton. The break occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. and resulted in a loss of water pressure in the affected area. When this occurs, there is an increased risk of contamination to the water distribution system.

The BWA is affecting approximately 3,600 customers who are in the Accokeek and Clinton areas of Prince George’s County.

Customers can access an interactive map of the impacted area. Customers can select the link and type in their address to see if they should follow the BWA guidelines listed in this release.

If you live in the affected area, you should bring your water to a rolling boil for one minute then cool it before:

  • Drinking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing fruits and vegetables
  • Preparing baby food and formula
  • Making ice
  • Giving to pets

All stored water, drinks or ice made recently should be discarded. Boiled water can be stored in a clean container with a cover. Water does not have to be boiled before it is used for bathing as long as it is not consumed.

WSSC Water crews worked throughout the night and completed repairs to this broken main early this morning. Roadway repairs at 14251 Livingston Road in Clinton are complete and all lanes were opened around 12:45 p.m. today. The approximately 200 customers who had no water due to the break had water service restored earlier today. However, the BWA remains in effect until water quality test results confirm safety.

WSSC Water collected water samples from the impacted area last night and are now performing tests to ensure the water is safe for consumption. Once water safety has been confirmed, WSSC Water will lift the BWA and will notify customers via news media, social media, website and the Customer Notification System that the advisory has been lifted.

WSSC Water will issue another BWA update tonight between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
