Laurel, Md. – January 26, 2024 – WSSC Water Commissioners will convene their fourth in a series of special virtual meetings on Tuesday, January 30, to review and discuss rate-setting design considerations. The virtual meeting starts at 2 p.m. and is open to the public via livestream directly from WSSC Water’s website.

The rate-setting design process has multiple steps to help identify financial and policy considerations, revenue requirements and affordability concerns when considering possible adjustments to WSSC Water’s existing rate structure.

A rate structure is how customers are charged for water/sewer. WSSC Water uses a volumetric, four-tier inclining block structure and fixed fees (account maintenance and infrastructure investment fees) to recover costs. WSSC Water’s rate structure is not changing. The rate-setting design process will help determine if changes need to be made to the volumetric charges within each tier to better account for current consumption patterns and/or changes to fixed fees.

The complete agenda can be found here.

Customers will have the opportunity to watch/listen and provide comments.
