WSSC Water Holding Monthly Commission Meeting on Wednesday, October 18

Laurel, Md. – October 17, 2023 – WSSC Water Commissioners are holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 18, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting, which will be held in person at the WSSC Water building in Laurel, is open to the public and will be available via livestream from WSSC Water’s website.   

Commissioners are scheduled to receive several briefings, including one detailing WSSC Water’s Fiscal Year 2023 spending with diverse businesses outlined in the Office of Supplier Diversity & Inclusion Performance Report. The report shows WSSC Water’s efforts to forge strong relationships with industry partners - spending 28 percent of overall payments, $148 million, with diverse businesses.  

This month’s meeting agenda includes the following topics:  

• General Manager’s Monthly Report 
• Customer Service Key Performance Indicators and Proposed Expansion to Financial Assistance Programs 
• Briefing on Engineer Estimates 
• Capital Improvements Program Quarterly Update  
• Scheduled vote on more than $43 million to upgrade aging critical infrastructure  
• Anacostia Pumping Station  
• Major Valve replacement  
• Water Main Replacements (New Hampshire Ave, W. Cedar Ln., Rosaryville)  
• Business Investment & Growth (BIG) Program  
• Scheduled vote on $1.7 million call management contract  
• Briefing on proposed legislation to expand service line emergency replacement loan program   
• Scheduled vote on $27 million contract for biosolids hauling management and utilization 

The meeting includes a call-in option to ensure interested stakeholders not in attendance can provide input.
