Laurel, Md. – January 26, 2023 – WSSC Water is hosting two in-person public hearings next week for interested customers and stakeholders to provide feedback on its preliminary proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) for operating and capital funds. Staff will provide an overview of the $1.603 billion preliminary proposed budget and receive public comments. Interested members of the public can visit wsscwater.com/fin to find complete budget details.

Written comments may be submitted electronically to BudgetGroup@wsscwater.com or mailed to Budget Division Manager, WSSC Water, 14501 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, MD 20707, until February 14, 2023. The proposed budget must be submitted to the Prince George’s and Montgomery County Executives by March 1, 2023.

The preliminary proposed budget is funded with a proposed seven percent average water and sewer rate increase and a seven percent increase to the Account Maintenance Fee and Infrastructure Investment Fee. A typical three-person household, using an average per person consumption of 55 gallons of water per day, would see a quarterly increase of $17.96 in their bill.
