Laurel, Md. – April 18, 2023 – WSSC Water Commissioners are holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 19, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting, held in person at the WSSC Water building in Laurel, is open to the public and will be available via livestream from WSSC Water’s website.

Commissioners are scheduled to vote to create a temporary water bill amnesty program to help eligible customers with delinquent water/sewer bills as of May 1, 2023. The program, which will run June 1-30, 2023, provides bill credits and 100 percent of late payment charges and turn-on fees waived for qualifying customers. During June, WSSC Water will temporarily suspend residential water service turnoffs to encourage program participation. As of late March, nearly 87,000 accounts are past due, totaling nearly $57 million – the vast majority of which are residential customers.

This month’s agenda also includes a briefing on the following topics:

The meeting includes a call-in option to ensure interested stakeholders not in attendance can provide input. Those watching virtually and wishing to speak should call in at the beginning of the comments section, which begins shortly after 10 a.m. Callers will be admitted from the “lobby” when public comments start.
