Laurel, Md. – March 15, 2022 – WSSC Water Commissioners are holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 16, beginning at 10 a.m. The virtual meeting is open to the public via livestream from WSSC Water’s website.

Commissioners are scheduled to vote on several contracts to improve aging water infrastructure, including a $24.5 million contract to replace water mains and house connections along South Osborne Road in the Upper Marlboro area of Prince George’s County. The contract includes a 30 percent Minority Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise (MBE/SLBE) subcontracting requirement. Commissioners are also scheduled to vote on a $1.6 million contract to replace a 48-inch valve (device to turn off water mains) and vault (underground structure to protect valves) on Tara Road in the Potomac area of Montgomery County. This contract includes a 25 percent MBE/SLBE subcontracting requirement.

The monthly meeting will be Regina Speed-Bost’s first in her new role as a Commissioner representing Prince George’s County. Appointed by County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, Ms. Speed-Bost was unanimously approved by the Prince George’s County Council last week. <

The Commission meeting includes a call-in option to ensure interested stakeholders can provide input. Those wishing to speak should call in at the beginning of the Comments section, which begins shortly after 10 a.m. Callers will be admitted from the “lobby” when public comments start.
