Laurel, Md. – August 16, 2022 – WSSC Water Commissioners are holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 17, beginning at 10 a.m. The virtual meeting is open to the public via livestream from WSSC Water’s website.

Commissioners are scheduled to vote on contracts totaling more than $12 million to upgrade and maintain aging infrastructure and design services for construction in environmentally sensitive areas throughout Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. The contracts include:

  • $7 million for environmental engineering design services. The scope includes studies of topography, floodplain analyses and stream restoration design.
  • $3 million for construction management and water tank evaluation, design and inspection.
  • $1 million to replace aging residential meters.
  • $1.7 million for condition assessment of large and air release valves. This contract provides routine inspections, data collection and valve condition assessment to help make repairs or upgrades to critical valves throughout WSSC Water’s system.

As part of WSSC Water’s commitment to public engagement and transparency, the live broadcast of this meeting allows viewers to observe agency business, including the review of contracts and policies and a monthly synopsis of WSSC Water’s operations. The complete agenda can be found alongside the livestream link or by clicking here.

Due to a condensed agenda, members of the public may provide comment via email at CommOffice@wsscwater.com. Emails unrelated to the items on the agenda and not received prior to the start of the meeting will not be read aloud during the meeting.
