Award Criteria for the 2025-2026 Academic Year 

Eligibility

berger logoChildren of permanent WSSC Water employees and retirees who are enrolled or accepted for admission as full-time students in an undergraduate program which will lead to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree or certificate of graduation or equivalent from a vocational educational institution.  

The employee/retiree must be currently enrolled in the Fund and have contributed or pledged a minimum biweekly contribution of $10.00 per qualifying child by January 15, 2025. The contribution must be $260 a year per child or a $10.00 biweekly pledge for a consecutive (12) month period for award eligibility.

The employee/retiree must also be the natural or adoptive parent or legal guardian of the child.

Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis with payments made to the school per semester. No student may receive a scholarship for more than five consecutive or non-consecutive years. Scholarship recipients must remain in good standing at their educational institution to continue to be eligible.

Scholarship Award Criteria

  • Academic Achievement - Heavily weighted towards Grade Point Averages, and SAT scores (College Freshmen Only).
  • Community Service
  • Extracurricular Activities
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Essay
