Learn what happens throughout the pretreatment process to protect our water, our workers and the public.
Industrial Discharge Control (IDC) issues permits to Significant Industrial Users (SIUs).
These permits:
- Prevent damage to collection systems (corrosion, explosions, blockages, etc.).
- Protect the health and safety of the public and workers in the collection system and at the Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF).
- Prevent interference or damage to WRRFs.
- Prevent pass through of pollutants to surface waters.
IDC also issues permits to waste hauler vehicles at waste disposal sites for septage and grease.
These permits:
- Provide oversight of hauled waste contributions.
- Improve and protect opportunities for beneficial sludge re-use.
