Labor Relations (LR) provides strategic direction, leadership, and administration for the delivery of WSSC Water’s labor relations function including fostering harmonious and cooperative labor management relations with the employee organizations that represent the workforce.  Responsibilities include design, implementation and management of all labor relations' activities including but not limited to:

  • Negotiating, administering, and interpreting the collectively negotiated agreements with all labor unions
  • Administering the grievance process 
  • Participating in and/or providing advice on grievance matters
  • Representing WSSC Water at grievance, interest arbitration hearings and mediation
  • Providing support and training to supervisors with respect to discipline
  • Providing sound advice with respect to interpretation and application of policies
  • Facilitating Labor/Management meetings between department management and Union representatives
  • Facilitating compliance with certain Federal and State laws related to employment
