Project Purpose

To enhance service reliability and provide safe, clean drinking water, WSSC Water is replacing our aging infrastructure. This project will replace approximately 1.85 miles of water main with new 4-inch to 12-inch diameter water main.

Winter 2025 – Summer 2026

Project Status

Construction is 90% complete. Pipe installation is estimated to be completed in April 2026.​ Installation of the water main on Powhatan Street from Lamont Drive to Westbrook has been completed.​

The contractor is currently completing asphalt restoration.​

Expect weekday working hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Work may occasionally extend beyond these hours to complete specific tasks.​

Final roadway paving and restoration is estimated to be completed in early summer 2026, weather permitting.
