You need different tools to remove different types of faucet aerators. For the "hidden aerator," you'll need an aerator key. General aerators with an aerator housing without tightening grooves on the sides, need water pump pliers. You can use an adjustable wrench for a general aerators with tightening grooves on the aerator housing. For coin-slot aerators, you can use a small coin like a dime.

For a small leak, which may add 200 gallons per day, you'll add an estimated $451 on top of your regular bill. For a medium leak, which may add 2,000 gallons per day, you'll add an estimated $5,226 on top of your regular bill. For a large leak, which may add 4,000 gallons per day, you'll add an estimated $10,531 on top of your regular bill.
