General Counsel
The General Counsel is WSSC Water's chief legal officer who oversees legal issues and identifies potential legal concerns.
The General Counsel is WSSC Water's chief legal officer and head of the General Counsel’s Office.
The principal responsibilities of the General Counsel's Office include:
- Defending WSSC Water against lawsuits and claims, and prosecuting WSSC Water's claims against others
- Representing WSSC Water before regulatory agencies such as the Maryland Department of the Environment, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and others
- Preparing legal opinions, analysis and research; reviewing and revising contracts
- Investigating claims filed by customers and determining liability and damages, and negotiating settlements when appropriate
