PCCP Management Program
PipeDiver is one of several tools WSSC Water uses to inspect its PCCP.
WSSC Water has a total of 145 miles of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) for water ranging in size from 36 to 96 inches in diameter. The Commission is committed to inspecting its largest water mains every five years.
PipeDiver is one of several tools WSSC Water uses to inspect its PCCP. The Commission also uses Acoustic Fiber Optics (AFO) to monitor its PCCP for imminent failures. As of 2018, WSSC Water monitors 102 miles of its PCCP, making it the longest, active AFO monitoring system in the world.
