Laurel, Md. – September 3, 2025 – WSSC Water is hosting two in-person public hearings next week to provide customers and interested stakeholders an opportunity to learn about and comment on the proposed six-year (Fiscal Years 2027-2032) Capital Improvements Program (CIP), highlighting Fiscal Year 2027. Streaming options are available for those who are unable to attend the in-person meetings.
WSSC Water’s proposed six-year CIP of $4.83 billion focuses on upgrading and replacing aging critical infrastructure to enable the continued delivery of clean, safe and reliable drinking water and wastewater services to 1.9 million customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
The hearings will provide an overview of the six-year plan and highlight $759.3 million in projects included in the first year (FY 2027) of the program. The FY 2027 projects include:
- Sewer Main Reconstruction Programs - $114.1 million
- Water Main Reconstruction Programs - $68 million
- Large Diameter Water Pipe and Large Valve Rehabilitation - $58 million
- Lead Reduction - $34 million
- Trunk Sewer Reconstruction Programs - $26.44 million
- Anacostia Depot Upgrades - $24.04 million
- Support Center Upgrades - $22.8 million
- Energy Performance Program - $16.3 million
- Master Planning and Facilities Planning and Investments - $15.2 million
- Smart Water Meter Infrastructure - $12.89 million
