The Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer develops, communicates, and carries out strategic initiatives, innovation and risk management. The position focuses on accelerating organizational performance through cohesive strategy planning and execution, knowledge management, and fostering organizational effectiveness. The CSIO oversees the strategic performance program, including data analysis, business planning, enterprise risk, strategic sourcing and process improvement.

The Office of Innovation and Research finds new technologies and processes, primarily for the pipeline networks and treatment plants, to reduce operating expenses, increase safe work practices, improve sustainability, and identify, evaluate and pursue revenue opportunities created from innovative ideas. We also foster an innovation-enhancing workplace culture to celebrate new ideas and research challenges.
The Strategic Performance Office engages WSSC Water in strategic planning and facilitates alignment toward strategic priorities by using data to inform decision-making. It provides internal consulting services to departments, including business planning, strategic sourcing, enterprise risk, data analysis and process improvement.
Enterprise Risk spearheads the process of identifying, assessing, mitigating, monitoring and reporting WSSC Water's risks and opportunities in order to minimize negative effects and enhance positive outcomes.
