Karyn Riley
As WSSC Water’s chief advocate, Karyn leads the organization’s relationships with elected, government and community stakeholders. She directs the advocacy and lobbying functions before federal, state, county and municipal bodies, and serves as a strategic advisor to the Commissioners, General Manager/CEO and colleagues on critical business processes and operations.
Karyn has overseen the passage of key legislative initiatives, including expanded affordability programming and enhanced transparency. She is the architect of the This One Drop advocacy campaign, a movement that highlights the value of water by positioning water policy as the convergence of public health, environmental health, economic development and social justice.
A native Prince Georgian, Karyn graduated from Elizabeth Seton High School, Hampton University and the Syracuse University College of Law. In her free time, she studies dance anthropology (West African and modern techniques) and volunteers with various civic and community organizations.
