Laurel, Md. – April 27, 2021 – During national Drinking Water Week (May 2-8), which recognizes the vital role safe, clean tap water plays in our daily lives, WSSC Water is tapping into the generosity of four local restaurants in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties to help spread awareness of its Water Fund and support local businesses. Like many WSSC Water customers, local businesses have been financially impacted by COVID-19. This year’s Drinking Water Week celebration encourages neighbors to help neighbors by supporting participating restaurants and donating to the WSSC Water Fund.
The participating restaurants are:
Prince George’s County
Starting May 2 through May 8, customers can dine and donate using a QR code displayed on the participating restaurants’ table toppers and coasters. Donations can also be made at wsscwater.com/donate.
Broadcast personalities Tommy McFly and Kelly Collis from the Tommy + Kelly Show are also diving into the Drinking Water Week party with a gift card giveaway contest. Interested donors can visit realfundc.com/waterfund to donate and enter to win a $100 gift card to dine at one of the participating eateries.
The Water Fund, established in 1994 by WSSC Water employees and administered by The Salvation Army, helps residential customers in financial need pay their water/sewer bills. Since the pandemic began, 3,298 people (1,000 families) have received $441,000 in assistance from the Water Fund. 100 percent of all donations go directly to those in need. The need for donations has never been greater.
