The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) offered a rare look inside its Potomac Water Filtration Plant on May 26, 2011. In an event called "Drink Up! Innovation for Excellence," the Commission gave the media and elected officials an up close look at the plant's new ultraviolet disinfection (UV) system. The UV disinfection, which is one of the largest of its kind in the country, is part of a $90 million improvement project underway at the Potomac Plant. By adding UV disinfection, WSSC is going above and beyond its commitment to provide safe, clean and reliable water to the residents of Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
