WSSC Wants You To Keep Wipes Out Of The Pipes

The toilet is NOT a trash can! Wipes, Q-tips, dental floss... throw them in the trash, not in the toilet.
All these items can clog up the pumps in the wastewater system. Flushable wipes in particular can wreak havoc on the system. They go down the toilet but many end up at the pumping stations, still intact. They don't break up like toilet paper and the wipes clog up the pumps causing big problems for WSSC.
The Commission is in the process of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to install grinders at the pumping stations just to deal with flushable wipes.
