Stewardship Projects & Recreational Activities

Environmental Stewardship is one of WSSC’s strategic priorities and it is our belief that through an understanding of a natural area people will take strides to protect that area. This is why we promote safe and responsible recreation on over 6,000 acres of WSSC owned property along the Patuxent River.  Learn more about the programs offered through the tabs below.

The WSSC Patuxent River Watershed recreation  program allows visitors to engage in a variety of activities. Recreation areas are located in Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Howard counties. Watershed user permits are required. Please review the regulations before purchasing a permit.

Stay up to date on activities related to watershed stewardship and recreation by following WSSC - Watershed Recreation on Facebook and @WSSCWaterNews on Twitter.  Confirm daily conditions on the watershed by calling 301-206-4FUN (4386).
