Educational Outreach Programs

WSSC has been an education partner for over 10 years. Through classroom programs, field trips, science fair judging, and career day speakers WSSC’s dedicated staff engage school children in the world of water. No matter the topic, our programs focus on the development of a generation of scientists and environmental stewards who understand the importance of protecting their drinking water and local watersheds.

STEM Education

Through innovative education experiences WSSC helps to prepare the next generation for careers in engineering and environmental science.  Our STEM programs bring WSSC staff members from a variety of backgrounds into the community to educate students about the science and technology behind drinking water production and wastewater treatment, along with introducing students to the variety of careers available in the water industry. Environmental Education

Through our environmental education programs WSSC strives to educate students, scouts, and adults on how their actions can affect the environment. Presentations focus on the water cycle, the value of water, and the importance of watershed protection. Children's Water Festival

The Children’s Water Festival is one of WSSC’s signature annual events. This outdoor festival provides grade-appropriate hands-on learning about water and the environment. Our goal is to help students understand the impact everyday habits have on the availability and quality of water; life's most precious resource. The festival coincides with National Drinking Water Week, held in the first full week of May. Learn more about the Children’s Water Festival here
