Laurel, Md. – December 15, 2020 – WSSC Water Commissioners are scheduled to hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 16, beginning at 10 a.m. The virtual meeting is open to the public via livestream from WSSC Water’s website.
The monthly meeting includes a staff briefing on the Fiscal Year 2022 Preliminary Proposed Capital and Operating budget. Following the briefing, Commissioners are scheduled to vote on the budget and approve transmittal to Montgomery and Prince George’s County governments. The $1.553 billion budget is funded with a proposed 5.9 percent average rate increase, which complies with the Spending Affordability Guidelines set by Montgomery and Prince George’s County Councils.
A typical customer with a family of three, using 55 gallons of water per person, per day, would see a quarterly increase of $11.83 in their bill. The complete preliminary proposed budget will be posted on WSSC Water’s website for public review in advance of two virtual public hearings, which are scheduled for Tuesday, February 2 and Wednesday, February 3. Complete details on the budget and access to the virtual meetings can be found here.
Similar to previous Commission meetings, there will be a call-in option to ensure interested stakeholders are able to provide input during the meeting. The public comment period is scheduled to start shortly after 10 a.m.
