Laurel, Md. – January 30, 2019 – WSSC will host two public hearings next week to receive feedback on its Preliminary Proposed FY20 Capital and Operating budget. WSSC staff will provide a presentation on the proposed $1.456 billion budget (Capital: $638.5 million, Operating: $817.4 million), and then receive public comments. Interested citizens can visit wsscwater.com/fin to find the complete budget details.
The preliminary proposed budget calls for a combined 5 percent increase in water and sewer rates, resulting in an additional $3.87 per quarter for the typical three-person household. The proposed increase will allow for continued investments in repairing and replacing aging infrastructure – supporting WSSC’s 100-year-long tradition of providing safe, clean water that has always met strict Safe Drinking Water Act standards.
