Spring Open House Meetings Focus on New Rate Structure

County and Community Partners Join WSSC to Offer Customers Information on Assistance Programs and Resources

Meeting to be Held Tuesday, June 4 at WSSC Headquarters in Laurel

Laurel, Md. – May 31, 2019 – Continuing a commitment to transparency and public outreach, WSSC is hosting their final open house meeting this spring to inform customers about several big changes coming to the water utility serving 1.8 million customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Expected July 1, a new rate structure will change the way WSSC charges for water and sewer services. The community-based events provide details on WSSC’s new, modern and simplified rate structure and redesigned bill.

Customers have one more opportunity to attend an open house meeting to ask questions and learn about WSSC’s new rate structure, redesigned bill, enhanced customer assistance programs, construction projects, innovative technologies, environmental protection efforts and much more.

Community partners attending the final meeting include:

  • Prince George’s County Department of Social Services
  • Prince George’s County Office of Community Relations
  • Salvation Army
  • M-NCPPC/Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation
  • Laurel Advocacy & Referral Services, Inc.

The open house format provides customers the ability to attend anytime during the two-hour period that is convenient for them. Customers with specific billing questions, or those who would like help in determining their future bills under the new rate structure, should bring their latest bill and a valid government-issued ID.

More than 650 WSSC customers attended the first two open houses held in May – one in Montgomery County and one in Prince George’s County.
