Laurel – February 5, 2018: WSSC will hold two public hearings next week to receive comments on its Preliminary Proposed FY19 Capital and Operating budget. Attendees will receive a presentation and learn more about the proposed $1.483 billion budget ($700 million capital/$782.5 million operating), which supports WSSC’s 100-year-long tradition of providing safe, clean, reliable water that has always met strict Safe Drinking Water Act standards.
The preliminary proposed budget calls for a combined 5 percent increase in water and sewer rates, resulting in an additional $6.78 per quarter to the average residential customer bill. The increase will allow continued investments in WSSC’s Capital Improvements Program in order to repair and replace aging infrastructure and support ongoing customer service enhancements.
