“Diversity... Just the Way We Do Business"
Laurel – March 10, 2017: WSSC is encouraging local businesses and stakeholders to attend important information about changes to its Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Program Policies. Two public meetings will be held in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties later this month.
The Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Program Policies, (referred to as Standard Procedures or SPs) incorporate the race and gender-neutral and narrowly-tailored, race- and gender-conscious remedies for small businesses as set forth in its recently completed 2015 Disparity Study. These policies will be presented to WSSC’s Commissioners at their monthly meeting on March 15.
WSSC’s MBE Program is scheduled to sunset on July 1, 2017. WSSC is working with Maryland state legislators during the 2017 legislative session in Annapolis to ensure that this vital program is reauthorized.
Two (2) SLMBE Public Meetings are being conducted to review the updated policies:
