FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAUREL, Md. – August 11, 2017: Continuing WSSC’s open and transparent efforts to establish a new rate structure, WSSC commissioners will convene their third special meeting on Tuesday, August 15, at WSSC’s Laurel headquarters starting at 10 a.m.
During the meeting, WSSC commissioners will receive information from local and nationally-renowned experts on different rate structure options, and the impacts these options will have on the average customer’s water/sewer bill. The rate structures being presented reflect WSSC management’s efforts to design different structures that align with the policy considerations commissioners prioritized at their August 3 meeting.
Following expert testimony and discussion, WSSC customers and members of the public will have an opportunity to provide comments.
WSSC’s current rate structure was adopted 25 years ago and good management practice dictates periodic review of rate structure alternatives.
The public rate structure meeting will be livestreamed on WSSC’s website. Those unable to attend the meeting can watch via livestream and provide comments to: BudgetGroup@wsscwater.com. The deadline for submitting comments is August 31, 2017. Information on the rate study can be found here: www.wsscwater.com/ratestudy.
