WSSC Recognized as Most Inclusive Corporation of the Year for Minority Business

Laurel – May 13, 2016 – WSSC was recognized today with the “Most Inclusive Corporation of the Year for Minority Business” award by the Md.

Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA) during their 13th Annual Spring Breakfast Meeting held in Baltimore.

Each of the honorees is considered a model of excellence for inclusion of Minority Business Enterprise in the nation. This award further highlights WSSC’s commitment and dedication to creating and building relationships that help the growth of small, local and minority business enterprises in the region. Towanda Livingston, Director of WSSC’s SLMBE office, accepted the award on behalf of Commission General Manager/CEO Carla A. Reid. Senator Ben Cardin (MD) was on hand during the award presentation.

“Our mantra has been ‘diversity is just the way we do business,” says Reid. “We are most appreciative of The MWMCA for recognizing our efforts and our successes in helping small, local, minority and women-owned business.”

WSSC’s SLMBE program is designed to ensure small, local and minority firms are afforded the opportunity to participate in contracting opportunities in the areas of architecture and engineering, construction, procurement and professional services.
