Off-Duty WSSC Police Officer Involved in Shooting

Incident is Under Investigation by Prince George’s County Police Department

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Laurel – August 7, 2016: Today at approximately 1:00 p.m., an off-duty WSSC police officer was involved in a shooting with a suspect who illegally entered his private residence in Laurel.  

The suspect was shot in the arm, sustaining a non-life threatening injury and has been apprehended; criminal charges are pending. The details of the incident are preliminary and are being confirmed by Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD).

The WSSC officer was not injured. He is a 20-year veteran for the University of Maryland Baltimore and has served with WSSC for one year.

This is an ongoing PGPD investigation. Inquiries regarding the investigation will be handled by PGPD at 301-772-4710.
