OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Laurel – November 9, 2015 – Last year, WSSC spent over $500 Million in contracts for goods and professional services, including construction, architectural and engineering services, with 25% going to firms in our Small, Local and Minority Business Enterprises (SLMBE) Program. With the launching of the new WSSC Supplier Portal, suppliers of goods and services to WSSC will benefit from improved interactions and capabilities.
The WSSC Supplier Portal, which replaces the Centralized Bidder Registration (CBR) system, provides faster, more efficient service for doing business with WSSC. It reduces paper-based forms, streamlines the bidder registration process and will offer a much more effective way to process invoices and payment to suppliers.
Businesses registered in the CBR prior to Thursday, October 29, 2015, received notifications and information about the new portal and have been automatically transferred from the CBR to the WSSC Supplier Portal. Starting November 9, 2015 solicitations will be distributed only via the new WSSC Supplier Portal.
Businesses not yet registered with WSSC are encouraged to visit the WSSC Procurement page at wsscwater.com/contracts for registration information. A vendor must be registered in the WSSC Supplier Portal in order to do business with WSSC.
The new portal offers an improved user experience, allowing suppliers to easily:
- Manage their profile and documents
- Receive and view solicitations based on products and services they provide
- Improved communication capabilities between suppliers and WSSC
While WSSC phases out the CBR, a transition period will allow suppliers and businesses to access the solicitations published on the CBR before Monday, November 2, 2015 until those solicitations are closed. All new solicitations will be published on the new portal.
Training sessions are scheduled to help prospective suppliers and businesses register and how to navigate the new portal. Trainings will begin November 12, 2015, and run through December 19, 2015. To register for these sessions use this link--spaces are limited.
Detailed information, including a user guide, is available on the Supplier and Contracts page. Suppliers with additional questions may contact the Procurement Office at 301-206-8866 or via email at Procurement.Support@wsscwater.com.
