100 Children Go Shopping with Area Police Officers

Laurel – December 10, 2015: Kids, cops and Christmas! That's what Operation Santa with a Badge is all about.

A new addition to the Operation Santa with a Badge “force” this year is police officers from WSSC. Many people may not realize, but the water utility for Prince George’s and Montgomery counties has a police force.

On Saturday, December 12, WSSC police will join officers from the Hyattsville City Police Department, Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff and the Maryland Association of School Resource Officers to take approximately 100 already selected children on a shopping spree at The Mall at Prince Georges. Private donors fund the shopping spree and lunch for the children.

WHAT: Operation Santa with a Badge

WHO: Area police officers and children in need

WHEN & WHERE: Saturday, December 12

8:30 a.m. - Police will stage at Magruder Park, 3900 Hamilton St., Hyattsville and head out to pick up children at various schools.

10:00 a.m. - Officers and children meet back at The Mall at Prince Georges near Macy’s, 3500 East West Highway, Hyattsville

VISUALS: You will see about 100 police cars in a cruiser caravan with lights and sirens heading out from Magruder Park to pick up the children at various schools then meeting back at The Mall at Prince Georges with the 100 children to shop.
