WSSC Customers to See Reduced Transaction Fee Beginning February 1

Laurel – January 31, 2014: WSSC customers who pay their bill with e-checks, credit cards or debit cards will see a reduction in the service fee beginning Saturday, February 1, 2014. The new, lower transaction fee, collected by Western Union for providing these payment methods, will be $2.25 down from the $3.00 per transaction. It applies to bill payments, short form permit applications, and cross connection test reports when e-checks, credit cards and debit cards are used.
WSSC’s e-Services allow our customers to make payments, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week using their credit, debit, ATM card or e-check. WSSC does not make any money on the transactions.
This fee is not paid by those who sign up for WSSC’s “Go Green” paperless bill program, which provides an email notification to customers when their bill is ready to view and lets them pay online without a fee. Since the program launched in November 2012, over 100,000 customers have signed up for Go Green.
