FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Laurel – August 1, 2014: All lanes are closed on Rhode Island Avenue north- and southbound between 43rd Avenue and Charles L. Armentrout Drive and will remain closed through tonight.

A contractor for WSSC will spend the day repairing the pipe. WSSC estimates that water service for the six customers affected will be available later today. Repairs to the road will begin tomorrow morning; however, rain will delay any paving to the road. Rhode Island Avenue will reopen when the paving completed.

The closure is due to a 12-inch water main break that occurred yesterday at 4806 Rhode Island Avenue (Route One). Updates will be available on Twitter @WSSCWaterNews.

For 100 years, WSSC has proudly served the citizens of Prince George’s and Montgomery counties – providing drinking water that has always met strict Safe Drinking Water Act standards and protecting the environment through vital water resource recovery services. Our vision is to be THE world-class water utility, where excellent products and services are always on tap.
