WSSC Family Fishing Derby
Saturday, May 17, 8:00 a.m. to Noon
2600 Triadelphia Lake Road, Brookeville
Prizes will be awarded to fishermen 16 years old and younger for heaviest fish and most fish caught (by weight). A casting game will keep everyone happy!
Note: A Maryland fishing license is required for anyone age 16 and older, however participants in the fishing contest are not required to get a WSSC watershed permit unless they continue to fish beyond 1:00 p.m. The recreation area will be open all day for picnicking and playground fun.
The large pier is accessible to people with disabilities, and is great for teaching young children. In past derbies, fishermen have caught largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white perch, sunfish, bluegill and crappie.
You may register for the Family Fishing Derby online, at the Brighton Dam Visitor’s Center, or by phone at 301-206-8240. Advance registration is not required, but encouraged for planning purposes.
