Longer Billing Cycle Means Higher Bills for Some WSSC Customers
OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Laurel – March 6, 2014: WSSC customers receiving their water and sewer bills in recent days may find their bill is higher than expected. This is due to many customers being billed for longer than normal billing cycles.
The challenging winter weather has caused a delay in meter reading, resulting in billing cycles that could be as much as one month longer than normal. That means some customers could see a bill increase of as much as 30% compared to the bill they received for the same period last winter.
WSSC opted to delay meter reading and not estimate bills in an effort to provide customers with a bill that most accurately reflects their usage.
Customers should take a few minutes to look at their billing cycle and understand the number of days being billed. That information is located in the upper right portion of the bill.
If you still have questions about your bill after carefully reading it, please call our Customer Relations staff at 301-206-4001. Agents are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
